The aim of the brow lift in Tampa is to reverse the age-related conditions that appear around the brow or forehead. As you age, the muscles and skin of the forehead begin to lose elasticity, causing the brow to descend and deep lines to appear.
Also known as a brow lift, the procedure can correct droopy eyebrows and furrows of the brow region. The procedure may be performed endoscopically or using a more traditional technique.
When to Consider a Brow Lift in Tampa
- Brow ptosis
- Deep furrows, wrinkles
- Forehead lines or creases
- Sundamaged skin
Your Brow Lift Procedure
Forehead lifts may be performed under local or general anesthesia, and in a hospital or outpatient clinic. Procedure times run anywhere from 2 to 3 hours. During a traditional forehead lift, an incision is made from ear to ear and the forehead tissues are gently elevated. After closing the incision, the incision site is cleansed and bandaged.
With the endoscopic forehead lift, Dr. Albear uses an instrument called an endoscope to view the tissues beneath the skin of the forehead. Rather than one long incision, he makes several small incisions – one through which he inserts the endoscope, the others through which instruments to remove tissue will be placed.
During your consultation, your plastic surgeon works with you to design the best surgical approach for your brow lift.
What to Expect After Surgery
Recovery varies considerably depending on which surgical approach taken, and whether or not it is combined with other cosmetic procedures such as blepharoplasty. Dr. Albear will be sure to cover aftercare instructions specific to your situation. He may prescribe pain medication to help relieve the pain or numbness that is common following forehead lift surgery.
Many patients return to work after a week, but are asked to refrain from vigorous exercise for an average of 6 weeks following surgery. Whether your receive endoscopic or classic surgery, Dr. Albear will recommend that you refrain from washing your hair until the bandage or dressing is removed.
