Plastic surgeon Dr. Paul Albear offers injectable treatments of Juvederm, which work to diminish lines, wrinkles and other depressions on the face. When injected into a visible wrinkle, Juvederm works to provide volume and hydration to the skin. This effectively diminishes the appearance of the wrinkle and provides youthful support and volume to the targeted area.
Juvederm contains hyaluronic acid, which mimics the natural components of your skin. It is appropriate for patients of many ages and skin types.
Treatment Applications for Juvederm in Tampa
Dr. Albear uses injections of Juvederm to restore the look of youth and vibrancy to parts of the face that have begun to show signs of aging, in the form of wrinkles. Many types of wrinkles and depressions can be treated with Juvederm in Tampa including:
- moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds
- nasolabial folds or "laugh lines"
- marionette lines
Juvederm is also an important part of facial contouring and may be used to treat hollow tear trough and used for lip augmentation, creating a larger kissable area.
In your consultation with Dr. Albear, you will discuss your aesthetic goals with him and he will devise a customized treatment plan.
Your Juvederm Procedure
Before beginning your treatment with Juvederm in Tampa, your face will be cleansed in preparation. As Juvederm contains lidocaine for your comfort, a topical anesthetic is usually unnecessary. Using special techniques like crosshatching or fanning, Dr. Albear will inject the Juvederm solution beneath the surface of your skin, filling the depression. You will see some immediate correction of the wrinkle. In order to ensure a smoother result, Dr. Albear may also gently massage the injection site.
What to Expect After Juvederm in Tampa
Immediately following your Juvederm treatment, the injection site may feel overly full and you may experience slight redness or swelling. These side effects will be short-lived and an ice pack may be applied to decrease swelling. Dr. Albear will ask you to refrain from strenuous activity for 24 hours after your treatment, but you should be able to maintain your normal routine.
The skin smoothing effects of Juvederm last, on average, six months to a year. During this time, patients often choose to return to Dr. Albear's practice for touch-ups, which will maintain the beautiful results. During touch-ups, less Juvederm solution is usually necessary.
